Beaver Scouts Chat
The Colony belongs to the Beaver Scouts who come along week after week and each one has a right to contribute ideas and share their news.
Allowing the Beaver to chat encourages:
- The feeling of belonging to a colony of friends;
- Valuing the contribution of each member of the Colony;
- The making of choices by Beaver Scouts.
Over a period of time, a good colony will provide Beaver Scouts with the opportunity to:
- Contribute to regular ‘news time’ or Log Chews;
- Share jokes, birthdays and highlights of the week together;
- Talk with adults about their joys, interests and concerns.
Ideas that can be used in the meeting
- Circle time
- Chat cubes, each side has something different on about the Child and when thrown the child tells about what is on that side of the cube.
- Make a joke book
- Make a Birthday book
- Discuss news from certain events
- Tell the children about important events for the Colony
- Discuss issues which effect the Beaver e.g. new uniform
