Furry Fred Programme Ideas

Unfortunately before Christine (ACC Beavers) could see the results of her challenge she died of cancer. The challenge was finished as a memorial to a valued and respected Scouter. The challenge in Derbyshire lasted throughout 1996 but the ideas and programs seemed too good to be missed. We've obtained permission to publish some of them but on the understanding they be used as individual programme ideas since Furry Fred is unique to Derbyshire and was a fitting tribute to Christine.

U.F.O.O. (Unusual Furry Fred Object in Orbit)

Is it a beaver Scout? Is it a Cub Scout? No, it's Super Fred! Do you know what's out there? Superman, Martians or men in the moon? Find out!

Can you make a space-buggy and have a moonscape racing track? Challenge your friends or come up with your own ideas.

Furry Fred's Fantastic Fabrication

Create your own futuristic fabrication out of "fings" from your rubbish. Fun is found from finding out what fits. Don't forget to take "Fotos".

Father Christmas Fun Factory

Have fun at Christmas (Or down under style in summer) with food, fun and fizzy drinks. Make fancy decorations for friends and family.

Think of others less fortunate at this festive time.

Fred's Funny Flags

Flags (Semaphore) can be used to communicate. Can you send a message to another colony in code? Invite them to a fun evening. Different flags from different countries. Find out about "Fun and Friends" around the world.

Furry Fred Finds his Feet

Follow Fred across the road. Don't be green, learn the Green Cross Code.

Use your feet to follow footpaths and find fun - free from traffic.

Furry Fred's Phenomenal Flowers

Can you recognise 6 different flowers or visit the fields to see them grow? Don't pick them or they will not flourish. Grow your own in your garden or in pots. Can you plant some where you meet or give them away to make someone smile?

Furry Fred Finds Former Fellows

Feel free to invite former Beaver Scouts back to see the fun and share the friendship. Perhaps someone could organise a group event for all sections. Let's fraternise - not forget!

Fred's Funny Fodder Challenge

Cook foreign or finger-licking fries, fancies or fish. Create a fantastic feast (Al fresco is fine) for friends or parents to feel full and find fun.

Fred's Four-legged Friends - Challenge

Have a colony meeting on farms, fields or Frogs, furry friends of Fred or anything four-legged. Feel free to visit Fred's friends but don't fall in the fertiliser.

Furry Fred Keeps Fit

Is your colony fit? Improve your fitness - play football, unihoc or rounders.

Challenge another colony to a friendly game. Keep fit for your future.

Fred's Amazing Dam

All Beavers make dams. Can you make your own dam? The real thing or a model would do. A painting or drawing would also be fine.

Fred's Fantasy Footlights

Foot-tapping, finger licking and firelight songs, fables, mime or farce - a first class performance for fun. Invite family and friends for fund-raising and have an unforgettable time.

Foolish Fred Falls In

Follow Rosie and Jim or Valerie Vole.

Design posters or write stories about being safe near water.

Fred's Flying Machine

Make anything that can fly: Frisbees, kites planes, even boomerangs or free-fall parachutes. Whose flies the longest and do you know where they will fall.
