Beaver Scouts Follow Themes

Beaver Scouts have vivid imaginations. Meetings with themes are a powerful way to capture the interest and imagination of the Beaver Scout and make the programme attractive and enjoyable.

Following themes in the Colony can help to:

  • Generate ideas when planning a meeting;

  • Link activities, games and crafts together during a meeting;

  • Make learning things more fun;

  • Change a routine game into something new and exciting.

Over a period of time, a good Beaver Scout Colony will:

  • Run most meetings using themes;
  • Plan occasional extended themes that last for two-three weeks;
  • Offer a balance of different types of themes to promote the Beaver Scout programme as a whole.

Themes that can be used in the meeting

  1. Festivals – Christmas, Eid, Divali, Hannukah, Easter and others

  2. Saints Days – George, Andrew, David, Patrick and Nicholas

  3. Countries – Australia, America, Canada, etc.

  4. Characters – pirates, soldiers, spies

  5. Stories – characters, myths and legends, authors
