Beaver Scouts Follow Themes
Beaver Scouts have vivid imaginations. Meetings with themes are a powerful way to capture the interest and imagination of the Beaver Scout and make the programme attractive and enjoyable.
Following themes in the Colony can help to:
- Generate ideas when planning a meeting;
- Link activities, games and crafts together during a meeting;
- Make learning things more fun;
- Change a routine game into something new and exciting.
Over a period of time, a good Beaver Scout Colony will:
- Run most meetings using themes;
- Plan occasional extended themes that last for two-three weeks;
- Offer a balance of different types of themes to promote the Beaver Scout programme as a whole.
Themes that can be used in the meeting
- Festivals – Christmas, Eid, Divali, Hannukah, Easter and others
- Saints Days – George, Andrew, David, Patrick and Nicholas
- Countries – Australia, America, Canada, etc.
- Characters – pirates, soldiers, spies
- Stories – characters, myths and legends, authors
