Beliefs and Attitudes

From Monday 16th November 2009, as part of The Scout Association's development of one fully integrated website for Members, the information contained on this page is no longer being maintained. For up to date information please visit the following link: Cub Scouts: Beliefs and Attitudes Zone

The Beliefs and Attitudes Zone helps Cub Scouts explore and develop Scouting values, personal attitudes and beliefs. Cubs have a natural curiosity about other people and easily make new friends at this age. You can harness this good will and encourage tolerance by helping them understand and respect others beliefs and attitudes which differ from their own.

This Zone also covers some practical ideas on how to bring the Promise and Law into everyday life.

Why should this Zone be covered?

This Zone is important to give young people a greater understanding of the faiths and religions of the world. It allows Cub Scouts to start building a closer relationship with people in the community.

By actively helping the Cub Scouts to explore a wider range of beliefs and attitudes you can help them to:

  • grow in their faith

  • develop understanding of other people's faiths

  • put their Promise and Law into practice.

Linking Challenge Award

The Promise Challenge links with the Beliefs and Attitudes Zone and Cubs are encouraged to select four of ten areas to show how they contribute to the life of the Pack.
