ScoutBase UK
Programme - Cub Scouts

Creative

The Creative Zone provides opportunities for Cub Scouts to try a wide range of arts and crafts. They will be able to express themselves through drama, music, singing or writing. Above all, it is important this takes place in a supportive environment, which encourages their efforts.

They will enjoy working with a wide range of tools and materials and learning how to use them safely and correctly. You may even spark off a new hobby or interest for the Cub Scouts at this age. This is also the time to find out if your fellow Leaders have any hidden talents!

Why should this Zone be covered?

Cub Scouts enjoy making things and have a lively imagination. It is nice to have something to take home after a meeting. There are plenty of opportunities for involving parents, carers and craftsmen and women from your local community. You can also provide the chance to try some of the more messy activities that cannot be easily offered at home.

By actively helping the Cub Scouts to be creative, you can help them:

  • develop their creative skills and self expression

  • try something new.

Linking Challenge Award

The Creative Challenge links to the Creative Zone. Cubs need to select three activities from a list of nine that ranges from acting and miming, to being creative with a computer, cunning with problem solving or knotting about pioneering.
