The Outdoor and Adventure Zone is designed to help Cub Scouts experience and enjoy the outdoors. This Zone is relevant in both rural and urban communities.
Outdoor and Adventure
Why should this Zone be covered?
Most young people join Scouting because of the exciting outdoor activities we do. These can include:
- camping
- fire lighting
- hike
- tracking
- canoeing
- pioneering and more besides.
By actively helping the Cubs Scouts to explore the Outdoor and Adventure Zone, you will help them to:
- enjoy the outdoor life
- sample adventurous activities
- learn new Scouting skills and develop existing ones.
Linking Challenge Award
Two Challenges link with this Zone, the Outdoor Challenge and the optional seventh Outdoor Plus Challenge. The former requires at least one night away, and learning two new skill and trying three new outdoor activities. Cubs then have the opportunity to share their experience with others in the Pack. The Outdoor Plus builds on this experience and skills already learnt, and require spending another two nights away.
