The British Youth Council (BYC) is the voice of young people in Britain today. It represents the views of young people to the government, decision-makers and the media.

BYC is made up of a large number of youth groups, including uniform organisations, political parties, youth clubs and the NUS. As the largest mixed youth organisation in the UK, The Scout Association plays an active part in BYCs policy development process. As a Scout Network Member you could be part of this! Through BYC your views can be taken forward into the wider community, you can have your voice heard and make a difference.

BYC are organising a series of national and regional events around the UK. All young people are welcome at the events; there are limited places which will be allocated on a first come first served basis - priority will be given to delegates from member organisation (which of course, includes the Scout Association).

The days have three main aims:

Putting forward your ideas and suggestions for future BYC campaigns.

Participate in shaping BYC's democratic process by contributing in our Democracy Commission's work.

Meet new people in your area, share ideas and make friends.

These regional days are free events, but you will need to provide you own lunch. To book your place, go to National and Regional Days on the BYC Website As you will see, these events are taking place all around the UK, so theres sure to be a day in your area.

This is an exciting opportunity for Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members to have their views heard at a national level. Please encourage the young people that you work with to take part.
