Who invests Members of the Scout Network
Each County/Area Scout Network Commissioner needs to come up with their own system. Some examples of this may be:
- Members are invested by County/Area Scout Network Leaders
- The local co-ordinator of each Network invests new members into that Network
- The County/Area Scout Network Commissioner may invest all new members at suitable large gatherings or events.
How is the Scout Network organised?
On a County/Area basis. All members of the Association aged between 18-25 are automatically Members of the Scout Network. They can also be Members of the Fellowship, warranted Leaders, Skills Instructors and local Scout Network Members.
Who runs the Network?
The Members do. The Scout Network is run for the members by the members.
Can Networks have their own accounts?
Yes as long as they are incorporated within County/area accounts and they offer regular reports
How do Members communicate?
- one-to-one
- Via a central database
- Supported by a County Administrator
- Scout Network co-ordinator for each local Scout Network that liaises with the County Scout Network Team.
Are their minimum numbers of Members for the Scout Network?
No - the viability of the network and the quality of the programme on offer is key to size.
Who makes decision on the colour of the scarves worn by members of the Scout Network?
The County/Area does in consultation with Members
What are Certificate of Achievements for?
These certificates record what a Member of the Scout Network has done over the previous year, and what they want to achieve in the next. They can be used to support CV's
Who assesses the Membership Award?
The County Scout Network Commissioner can delegate to another County Scout Network Leader or a local Network can assess it themselves. The County Scout Network Commissioner needs to decide.
Who decides if a Scout Network does a Group Award if asked by a Scout Troop for instance?
The Scout Network itself can decide if they want to join in.
Who decides if the Award is achieved?
Those taking part in the Awards undertake a self-review afterwards to see if they have reached the set criteria and have completed the requirements.
Why are there 7 Certificates of Achievement?
It is possible to award one per year if members start at the age of 18.
Is there clear guidance on Assessment of Awards?
Yes, see Scouting essentials and the Navigator.
How often do you have to Self-Review?
There is no set timescale, but we would recommend at least once a year.
Are Scout Network Members automatically allowed to help with Cub Scout Packs, Beaver Scout Colonies, etc?
All over 18's will go through the CRB process. If unsatisfactory, then guidance can be sought from the District or County/Area Appointment sub-Committee.
If members of the Scout Network member aren't linked to any Group or Network, how do they pay their subs?
The County/Area Scout Network Administrator must invoice them direct.
Who holds the records of the Members?
This is done by the County/Area Scout Network Administrator
If the Scout Network Members lead themselves, who is Scouting essentials aimed at?
Scouting essentials can be used by both Youth Members and the County Scout Network Team.
