Beliefs and Attitudes
Scouting is a values-based organisation. When young people join the Scout Section they make the Scout Promise and agree to do their best to keep the Scout Law. This Programme Zone develops and underpins this process.
Benefits of activities in the Beliefs and Attitudes Programme Zone
The Exploring Beliefs and Attitudes Zone benefits young people by:
- allowing them to discuss their ideas and making them aware that other people's ideas may differ
- developing their personal values and beliefs
- developing an understanding of the relevance of the Scout Law and Promise
- developing a relationship with God.
Linking Challenge Award
The Promise Challenge links with the Beliefs and Attitudes Zone and requires a Scout to complete five activities across at least two of four areas, through which they can explore their understanding of this fundamental area of Scouting.
