Fit For Life
Games have always been a popular Scout activity. Games may be used in a programme in their own right, or to change the pace of a Troop meeting or activity. Often, games are used to give Scouts the opportunity to demonstrate leadership. Sometimes, games are used as 'fillers' between other activities.
Fit for Life programmes can take place at the Scout headquarters or another area. Leadership teams may wish to make use of local sports grounds, schools or sports clubs.
Benefits of Activities in the Fit for Life Zone
The Fit for Life Zone benefits young people by:
- encouraging them to have a healthy lifestyle
- introducing them to a range of games and sporting activities
- encouraging them to explore their understanding of health issues
Linking Challenge Award
The Fitness Challenge encourages Scouts to get fitter by taking 4 - 6 weeks to train for a physical challenge, or to train over a similar period of time in some other physical activity such as circuit training or aerobics. During this time they will find out about good diet and sleep and learn of the dangers of drugs , alcohol and smoking.
