The fundamentals of the balanced programme offered are the same for all Scouts. Sea Scouts simply take a more nautical emphasis in many aspects of the programme. This could involve expeditions on water instead of land, looking at maritime environmental issues, community service with a maritime feel and many other examples.

The importance of the outdoors in the Scout programme is further strengthened in Sea Scouts. In many troops a variety of water borne activities are offered and in most at least two activities are followed by the members. Many gain National Governing Body Awards as part of their training e.g. RYA, BCU etc.

The exact nature of the activities on offer depends on the qualifications of the leadership team, the accessible water and the equipment available.
