Provisional Appointments

When an adult takes on a new role in Scouting, they are initially given a Provisional Appointment. This can last for up to five months, until they have passed certain milestones involved in a full appointment.

During the Provisional Appointment, the following should take place:

The person is considered and approved (if appropriate) by the Appointments sub-Committee
The person meets and is approved by the appropriate Commissioner
The person meets with their Training Adviser and agrees a Personal Learning Plan for their new role
The person completes the Essential Information module (if required)
The person completes the Tools for the Job module appropriate to their role (if required)
A valid CRB clearance is received for the person

When the person completes the two learning modules (Essential Information and Tools for the Job) in accordance with their Personal Learning Plan, they can wear the Getting Started metal pin.

When all the above criteria have been met, the Appointments sub-Committee should send off the application for a full appointment.
