Who can be in SID?
Any person who is either a bona-fide member of The Scout Association or who has some relationship to The Scout Association, (e.g. relative of member, someone who holds a committee position).
Child Protection Issues
Although youth members of the association can register with SID, their details will not be listed on any of the public pages of the website. Youth members details are available to administrators of the system.
Removal of entries
Entries can be removed from SID only by administrators or the person who placed the entry in SID. This may be for any number of reasons, usually when a person no-longer holds a position in Scouting.
If you feel you have been removed from the directory when you should not have been please contact the administrators, by clicking on the link in the footer of this page.
Data Protection Act
While using SID a number of different pieces of information are collected whenever you visit a page, and stored for statistical analysis:
- Your IP address;
- The address of the page you visited;
- The address of the page you visited;
Additional information is stored whenever you click on an advert link in the top right hand corner of the page.
Finally any information you enter in the signup form (and subsequent details editing form are stored on the server). Information is discarded whenever a change is made. Although all information will be periodically archived for purposes of data security.
Note due to the nature of SID your information (email address and name, Scouting position) will be the general public. If you do not wish this to be displayed you have the option to appear ex-Directory. We will not pass on the address list to any third party, and we specifically state that the entries in the list are not to be used for mass mailings.
Usage of data
The contents of the list may be used by individuals to contact other individuals on a one-to-one basis. The entries in the list are not to be used for any form of mass mailing.
