South American Cook Off - an activity for Scouts and Explorer Scouts

Scouts; Explorer Scouts; World Scouting

Aim:

To use South American ingredients to create a three course meal.

Preparation:

Buy South American ingredients, such as mince (beef or soya), fish, mango, onion, apple, fresh and tinned tomatoes, tinned red kidney beans, flour tortilla, potato, rice, avocado, flour, butter, or oil, sugar, salt, black pepper, cumin, chilli powder, and whatever you have left over from your last camp.

Method:

Divide the Unit into teams and give each team an equal share of, or access to, all the ingredients and stoves/utensils. Each team is given 45 minutes to come up with a three-course meal. Teams should then be judged on their meal and presentation. Latin American wine could be served for the judge(s) or given as the prize.
