Christmas Post for Scouts

First Class Fundraising

In 1981 the Government announced that charities could deliver Christmas cards during the period November 25th to January 1st and make a small charge for this service.

This is a great way for your Scout Group to fundraise during the festive season. Most schemes operate during the second and third week of December finishing a few days before Christmas to allow the final cards to be sorted and delivered by December 24th. If you would like further information on how to set up this scheme take a look at: http://www.scoutbase.org.uk/library/hqdocs/facts/pdfs/fs190002.pdf

Public Collections

Street and House to House Collections

Public Collections can be an important part of a Scout Group's fundraising strategy. When undertaking a Street or House to House collection there are regulations that must be followed. For more information on these regulations and other advice on public collections go to http://www.scoutbase.org.uk/library/hqdocs/facts/pdfs/fs190020.pdf

Gift Aid

An easy way to make 28p from every pound!

Did you know that you can claim tax back on membership subscriptions? Take a look at http://www.scoutbase.org.uk/library/hqdocs/facts/pdfs/fs190006.pdf for further information. It is important to note that the parent paying the subscriptions will need to be a income or capital gains taxpayer in order for tax to be reclaimed.

Fundraising Events

Holding fundraising events is an important part of Scouting. It will depend on the amount of money your Group wants to raise as to what type of event you want to organise. For more information about holding fundraising events and any legal implications take a look at http://www.scoutbase.org.uk/library/hqdocs/facts/pdfs/fs190018.pdf

Factsheets

The Fundraising department produces a range of factsheets that contain useful information on a wide range of subjects relating to fundraising. These factsheets can be downloaded from the site.
