BT Community Connections
Would your Group benefit from a PC?
This is a BT scheme that offers community and voluntary groups the opportunity to connect to the Internet. More than 1,700 Internet ready PCs will be awarded throughout the UK over an 18-month period. Applicants need to demonstrate how the award will benefit their group/community. Visit:

to apply online or contact:
BT Community Connections,
PO Box 30775,
London,

The next, and last, deadline is the 23 February 2003.
Gift Aid
An easy way to make 28p for every pound!
Did you know that you can claim tax back from the Inland Revenue on membership subscriptions? Have a look at http://www.scoutbase.org.uk/library/hqdocs/facts/pdfs/fs190006.pdf for further information. It is important to note that the parent paying the subscriptions will need to be a income or capital gains taxpayer in order for tax to be reclaimed.
BBC Children in Need Appeal
This is a charity set up by the BBC to distribute the proceeds of its annual appeal of the same name (held this year on the 15th November). This appeal will give grants to organisations working with disadvantaged children who must be aged 18 years and under. The application will need to demonstrate that the project will change the lives of children for the better. For further information and an application form visit www.bbc.co.uk/cin or call 020 8576 7788.
There are 2 deadlines for applications, which are the 30 November 2002 and the 30 March 2003. Applicants may only apply to one of these dates.
Alupro
You could raise money from cans!
The Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation (Alupro) has put together a guide for recycling campaigns. They say that £40m could be made annually by recycling so get collecting!
There are over 500 cash for cans centres or mobile van sites across the UK, where you can exchange your aluminium cans for cash. It's something people can do for you - and the environment - without dipping into their pockets for cash!
Visit www.alupro.org.uk for further information.
Sport relief
Grants for work using 'the power of sport'
Sport Relief UK has released the guidelines for UK Grants, from the money raised during the BBC campaign this summer. Grants aim to bring young people together to tackle tension and division in their communities. Projects applying for funding will need to work with young people under the age of 25. There is no maximum or minimum grant level, however, grants are not likely to be given for less than £10,000 a year. Therefore, projects should be realistically designed, budgeted and build in effective monitoring. There will also be 2 application stages with the first deadline of 24 January 2003 for summary applications.
