The Rank Foundation
Funds for Youth Groups
The Rank Foundation is a grant giving charitable trust. One of the main areas of the Foundation's work is 'encouraging and developing leadership amongst young people'. Outside of the requirements of the 'General Appeals', there is also a substantial element of The Foundation's initiatives that focuses on 'Young People's Work'.
Most of their grants are small capital grants where the need is for more than £5,000 and about half the total required has already been raised. Please bear in mind that less than one in four applicants is successful and that they do not make grants for running costs or salaries
All queries and applications should be sent to Sheila Gent at the following address.

futurebuilders
New government initiative
In 2002 the Government announced a £125 million programme to support the voluntary and community sector (VCS) entitled futurebuilders. The Treasury is about to appoint an institution or consortia to act as a fund manager for the scheme whereupon further advice and information will be available.
The Programme will include capital grants, around 80% of the £125 million with the remainder set aside for revenue. Capital grants could include buildings and possibly minibuses. It is not immediately clear whether Scouting can benefit from the Fund as many details are still to be agreed. However, it does appear that Groups in rural areas may be best placed to access the funds as part of a co-ordinated venture with other VCS members.

The Royal Bank of Scotland
Generous Charitable Giving
The Royal Bank of Scotland runs an extremely generous charitable giving programme for its employees. The bank double matches donations given by its employees through Give As You Earn. For example a £10 donation would become £31 once the Governments 10% has been added. It also offers annual donation awards up to £1000 per eligible employee to reward the volunteering and fundraising efforts of its staff though its Community Cashback awards scheme. If you are an employee of Royal Bank of Scotland and want to find out more about these schemes please contact your local branch.
