The Sport Show 2004

A completely interactive sporting environment, The Sport Show, will be created at Earls Court in London from 24-27 June. Whether you're into football or fencing, golf or gymnastics, karate or climbing, The Sport Show has it all.

Want to help promote the show and raise funds? For every ticket to The Sport Show you sell, 10% of the ticket's value will go to your Scout Group and 10% to The Scout Association (Charity no. 306101).

Not only that, but for every book of ten tickets you sell, your Scout Group will get a free ticket for the show. There will be a prize for the Group that sells the most tickets overall. Every ticket buyer will also be automatically entered into The Sport Show prize draw.

To order your ticket books call the Sport Show Hotline now on 01895 433 575, or send an e-mail to louise@thesportshow.com.

Community Champions Fund

Funding for projects

The Community Champions Fund has been set up by DfES to help support and develop the work of local people who are involved in, or who want to be involved in, changing their communities for the better.

The purpose of the fund, worth £9m over three years, is to support individuals who have already shown leadership in stimulating community activity, or who have ideas for encouraging greater community activity. The Fund will also support small-scale community inspired projects as part of supporting potential champions who have not previously sought funding. The Community Champions Fund offers small grants (usually of up to £2000) to individuals who want to make a difference in their communities.

AOL Innovative in the Community Awards

AOL UK and national charity Citizens Online have launched the AOL Innovation in the Community Awards 2004, inviting applications from UK community groups and charities seeking funding for Internet projects.

There are 30 awards on offer, each consisting of £2000 plus one year's free subscription to AOL, to non-profit organisations that already use the Internet or that want to get online for the first time.

The AOL Innovation in the Community Awards was launched in 2003 to encourage innovative use of the Internet amongst community groups and charities across the UK. Last year's winners used their awards to develop their Web sites, build a cybercafe, provide IT and Internet training, set up online forums and chat rooms, and purchase specialist IT equipment.

Application forms can be downloaded from the AOL Web site at www.aol.co.uk/innovation
