The London Marathon Charitable Trust
Since 1981 this trust has given grants of over £16 m from the profits made from the marathons organised by London Marathon Ltd.
Grants are from £250 up to a maximum of £150,000. They must be spent on sports and recreation facilities which MUST be available to the community.
Eligible areas are:- Birmingham, London ( London Boroughs and Cities of London and Westminster), Liverpool and S Northamptonshire (Silverstone area).
Grants do not need to be matched but the trust will need to know where the balance of funds are coming from and projects will be visited before and after the grant is made. They can be for land, water or air based projects.
Application forms can be obtained by telephoning 020 8940 0102 or faxing 020 8940 5798 AFTER the London Marathon (April 17th) and must be returned by the end of August. Further information and guidance on completing application forms contact the Fundraising Department.
Co-op Group funding for Community groups
Organisations may apply for grants of between £100 and £5,000. Community groups applying need to share the Co-op's values of self-help, social responsibility and caring for others. Groups applying could be environmental groups, young people, people with disabilities, playgroups, elderly people, credit unions and education projects.
If your project meets the criteria, simply complete the Community Dividend application form in the leaflet. You may include no more than two sides of A4 supporting information such as budget and a clear timetable to complete the work. To download the application form go to:- http://www.coop.co.uk/communitydividend/
Community Re Paint
Paint Schemes
In a previous edition of Funding Points, Community Re-Paint was mentioned. This is a network of paint schemes across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The purpose of the scheme is to collect leftover reusable paint from householders and redistribute it to those who need paint but cannot afford it.
Community Re-Paint is still running so if your Scout Head Quarters needs a fresh coat of paint, check out whether there is a scheme close to you. For more information visit www.communityrepaint.org.uk.
Crumbs!!
Looking for a new fundraising idea? This idea takes the biscuit! Munro Promotions are offering Scouts the chance to raise funds for their Groups.
Groups raise the funds by selling the world famous biscuits, shortbread and fudge to family, friends and work colleagues. 25% of the proceeds goes direct to the Group. The promotion runs until the end of May 2005. Why not contact Munro Promotions on 0141 556 0303 or jim@fundraisinguk.co.uk for a free colour brochure and information on their summertime special discounts.
