Ralph Reader Memorial Fund
The purpose of this fund is to assist deserving individual members of the Scout and Guide Movements under the age of 20 who may be in need and whose parents or family may be having difficulty in raising the necessary money. Grants may be given towards cost of camp fees, uniform, travel to events etc.

Young Roots
The purpose of this programme is to give young people between the age of 13-20 the opportunity to have a greater appreciation of their heritage. For additional information contact Debs McCahon at debsm@nya.org.uk or www.hlf.org.uk
Top Funding Tips
Just a few tips to help you with your fundraising:-
- Always have a clear focus of your project and how it meets the funding criteria.
- Ensure your application is simple, businesslike, reasonable and avoid jargon
- How will the project affect the young people and the community
- What is the outcome of your project.
- Don't forget the TSA has grants available to help you with some of your projects
- Contact your local authority for free fundraising advice.

Big Lottery Fund
Look out for the new £50m programme from the Big Lottery fund - the new scheme will support new buildings or improvement to old ones and will be available in 2006. More details to follow next year.
Awards Scheme Developed by British Gas
This scheme is to help develop communities through funding health, play/leisure and safety projects. Please look at the website for funding locations www.helpyourselves.org.uk. Applications are now being received for the second funding round - closing date is 17th March 2006
Jack Petchey Foundation
Offers grants between £500 and £5,000. It is only available for projects in east, north and northwest London and West Essex. Projects in South London available from 2006. Provides money for the training of youth leaders. Supports voluntary and community youth groups that encourage young people to reach their potential or overcome problems. Scout Group Support Fund (Needy Groups)
If you have any individual member who is unable to afford the cost of camp or uniform for next year don't forget to apply for the above grant which will able you to apply for 50% of the cost. The application form is simple to complete and only needs the authorisation of the DC. The individual does not even have to be aware. The application is available on www.scoutbase.org.uk.
Gift Aid
Please note that H.Q. grants for 2006 will only be available if a Gift Aid is being operated by the group.
