The Gimmie 5 Challenge - Help protect the planet
After the tremendous success of this years event, The Gimmie 5 Challenge will be running again from the 18-26th March 2006. The event raises money for The Scout Association and WWF, the global conservation organisation, and Groups can also keep 25% of the money they raise. World Friendship Appeal
This appeal has been launched to help Scouts from around the world attend the Centenary World Scout Jamboree in 2007 and will be running throughout 2005/06. Territorial Army
The Royal Engineers unit of the TA are looking for projects to test their skills on again this year. They have experience in constructing numerous plant orientated projects including carparks, roads etc. The 75th Engineer Regiment RE (V) is based in Manchester and has squadrons in Liverpool, Walsall and Stoke on Trent. ebay for Charity is an easy way to support charities while buying and selling on eBay. Buyers can bid on eBay for charity items knowing that they are helping a worthy cause and sellers can donate a percentage of their sales to verified charities. Charities can also sell items directly in the eBay market. For more information log onto www.missionfish.org.uk.
Treloar Fund
To assist individual special needs Scouts and the general development of Scouting for those with special needs. It will also help provide disabled facilities in Scout buildings. Please note the maximum amount given is £2,500
Charity Number
When applying to grant making trusts or anything similar please ensure you quote your own charity number, if you have one and not The Scout Association 306101. You can check your charity number by logging onto the following website www.charity-commission.gov.uk
Century FM
Century FM which broadcasts over Greater Manchester supports a charity called Century 21 Kids. This gives grants out to children or youth groups within its broadcast areas. It funds up to £3000 for projects but prefers the £1000 mark. Mark from Manchester received £900 for a new mess tent. For more information log onto www.1054centuryfm.com (News/Local)
