The Gimmie 5 Challenge - Help protect the planet

After the tremendous success of last year's event, The Gimmie 5 Challenge will be running again from the 18-26th March 2006. The event raises money for The Scout Association and WWF, the global conservation organisation, and Groups can also keep 25% of the money they raise. World Friendship Appeal

This appeal has been launched to help Scouts from around the world attend the Centenary World Scout Jamboree in 2007 and will be running throughout 2006. Can you make a special act of friendship and help young people experience this life-changing event? Log onto www.scouts.org.uk/friendshipappeal for more information and to donate.

Microlighting Offer to Explorer/Network Scout Units

The British Microlight Aircraft Assoc. have agreed to offer up to 30 free memberships of the BMAA to interested Explorer/Network Scout Units that wish to try their hand at the sport of microlighting for the year 2006. These memberships are for your whole UNIT. Applications for these places should be sent to

Community Trees Fund

The Tree Council has funds available to assist community groups proposing to undertake tree planting projects in 2006. Closing date for applications is 31st May 2006. For application form and more details go to www.treecouncil.org.uk

HBOS Foundation

HBOS have funds available for 'developing and improving local communities'. The regional scheme supports a diverse range of projects and operates across the whole of the UK. They have earmarked £20m over a five year period for the foundation. Groups wishing to apply are advised to ask for 'what you need to do the job'. For further information call the helpline on 0845 673 2005. Trustees need to know how the donation will be spent, how many people will benefit.

New Hanson Environment Fund

Hanson set up its environement fund in 1997 using landfill tax credits . It is offering small grant scheme from between £250-£5000 for community amenities. Applicants do not need to be enrolled with Entrust. For more information go to www.hansonenvfund.org.

Fundraising Road Show

Fundraising Department will be running a number of roadshows. Outside speakers invited from HMRC, Landfill Tax and 'Awards for all'. These will be free seminars so please book early.
