Project Leader - Assessor Support
The UK Commissioner for Programme and the UK Adviser for Activities are looking to recruit a volunteer project leader to support County Assessors in their role. Supporting Assessors has been identified as a key part of ensuring safe and enjoyable activities within Scouting. We are inviting you to be part of this team and to make a difference.
The role involves developing support and support networks for County Assessors. This is likely to involve (although not limited to) the designing and delivering of Assessor workshops, and the development of resources to allow for Assessor workshops and Assessor support locally. It is also likely to involve putting together a project team to deliver these workshops, as well as relying on UK Technical Advisers to provide technical advice and support for individual activities.
The role is for an initial fixed period of 18 months and will involve some weekend work in delivering workshops, and evening / weekend work in designing and preparing workshops, resources etc. Applications are welcome from individuals who have experience in leading, motivating and managing a team. The need for good communication skills, creativity, team working plus empathy for Scouting is essential. In addition, a background in training and the planning and delivering of workshops is desirable.
If you would like to talk the role through further or have any questions then please contact Barney at Gilwell Park by telephoning 020 8433 7123 or emailing barnaby.poulton@scout.org.uk.
The closing date for applications is Monday 30th June 2008.
UK Technical Advisers - Activities
The National Activities Team is recruiting active volunteers to take on the role of UK Technical Adviser (UKTA) for a number of different activities. The development of Scouting for young people through challenging and safe activities is an identified way of growing our Movement. We are inviting you to be part of this team and to make a difference.
The main function of the role will be to advise, mainly on technical issues as they arise, and to keep a watch on factors external to Scouting that will affect the activity within Scouting. Those holding the role will therefore need to be able to respond effectively to queries within a pre-agreed timeframe and be contactable by email. After an initial induction it is not envisaged there will be a need to attend any evening or weekend meetings to carry out this core work.
There will be no specific development responsibility within the role. Development will be the focus of a number of project leaders, who may invite UKTA's to assist where applicable. Where assisting in these projects there may be some evening or weekend work required at meetings, workshops, meeting with external bodies, or similar. The role of a UK Technical Adviser requires an in depth technical knowledge and, where appropriate, experience of the particular activity. To ensure competence many of the roles require a certain level of activity qualification. The minimum qualifications (or equivalent) required for each role are listed below.
