
Complete the requirements below:

Be able to identify at least 8 common types of tree growing in your area, including both deciduous and coniferous.

Know how to identify trees using identification keys.

Prepare soil and successfully transplant a young tree.

Understand the management of both natural woodland and commercial forests. Know the damage to which these areas may be exposed, for example through wind, frost, fire and animals.

Show how to select, use and care for appropriate equipment, and know the safety issues involved.

Show how to fell and trim out a tree or know the principles of laying a hedge.
Notes

The correct use of axes and saws must be understood and training given by a skilled person. Supervision by an adult is essential.
