From Monday 16th November 2009, as part of The Scout Association's development of one fully integrated website for Members, the information contained on this page is no longer being maintained. For up to date information please visit the following link: Scouts: Instructor Activity Badges
Instructor Badges are available for Scouts, and can be achieved for almost all Activity Badges in the Scout Section.
The requirements are as follows:
-
Hold the Activity Badge.
-
Have knowledge of the Activity Badge requirements, sufficient to enable you to instruct a Scout in that subject.
-
Attend a training course covering the technical skills involved in the Activity Badge and the use of appropriate training methods.
-
Assist with the training of Scouts in the subject over a period of at least three months.
Notes
-
Requirements 1, 2 and 3 must be completed before you can begin requirement 4.
-
For those subjects that do not have a recognised technical skill course, an individual training programme can be arranged with a suitably qualified instructor.
-
If you have already gained an Instructor Badge, you may be exempt from the training methods section of the third requirement.
-
It may not be possible to gain an Instructor Badge in some areas such as parascending, where there are clear age restrictions.
-
If you need help designing alternatives to these requirements for those with special needs please contact the Special Needs Office at Gilwell Park.
