Fox 40 Whistles (UK) are delighted to announce their sponsorship of the Scout Association's Scout Survival Skills Badge. Fox 40 Whistles are famed for being pea-less, they have no moving parts to jam or freeze but can still produce 115 decibels of sound!
The Fox 40 Whistle has its origins in sport. It was while referee, Ron Foxcroft, was officiating at the Olympic Games, his whistle jammed which lead him to create the Fox 40. The Fox 40 Whistle was subsequently adopted by the UK's Premiership referees.
However, it doesn't stop there, the superior quality of the whistle was recognised for its safety features and is used by American and Canadian coastguards. Now it is the choice of The Scout Association who believe it actively supports safety amongst its members. The Scout Survival Skills Badge requires Scouts to take part in an overnight survival exercise, prior to which they will have learnt about some first aid techniques, building a shelter, cooking on an open fire, recognising edible plants and using methods of rescue signals in which the reliability of their whistle is essential.
Fox 40's sponsorship of the Scout Survival Skills Badge will be launched on Thursday 19th April at Leicester City Football Club, who are appropriately known as the Foxes. From 12.30pm the 9th Leicester will be demonstrating the versatility of the whistle and it's use in sport as well as safety. Peter Jones, once a Cub Scout, now a Premiership referee and a number of Leicester City players will be on hand for a photo call with the Scouts.
