Scouts were keen to be counted in the Queen's Jubilee Services Parade staged through the streets of London on Tuesday June 4. The young people from across the UK gathered for the commemorative pageant to mark the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen.
Putting their best foot forward for this historic event, the group comprised of around 120 Scouts aged between 10 and a half and 18, accompanied by some of their leaders. To mark this year's Golden Jubilee theme of the Commonwealth, the occasion was made extra special by the presence of Scouting representatives from Sri Lanka, one of the Commonwealth member countries, and also UK Scouting representatives of Commonwealth based project work.
And about 100 Venture Scouts and leaders assisted with stewarding of the six parades in London and in helping the WRVS at various welfare and refreshment points.
The Scout Association was delighted to be invited to participate in one of the key events to mark the occasion. Invitations were extended only to those organisations with a special link to Her Majesty, The Queen is Patron of the Movement.
Televised around the Globe, the once in a lifetime event attracted over one million spectators to the procession in London alone.
