The World Scout Conference meeting in Durban, South Africa (29/7/99) has accepted a bid by the United Kingdom Scout Association to host the Centennial World Scout Jamboree in 2007.
This decision sees the start of eight year long, multi-million pound project to celebrate the dawn of the second century of World Scouting in the country that gave birth to the World Movement in 1907.
World Scout Jamborees are held every four years and involve more people and more countries than the Olympic Games.
There are now more than 25 million Scouts in over 200 countries.
