Provisional Appointments are for those adults seeking a Warranted Appointment for the first time or, in some cases, changing warranted roles.
Provisional Appointments are made locally and expire five months from the date of issue.
During the period of the Provisional Appointment four processes must take place:
a Personal Enquiry
the relevant Getting Started modules must be completed
a Personal Learning Plan must be produced
the adult must attend a meeting with the appropriate Appointments sub-Committee
A Provisional Appointment may only be renewed once by the District Commissioner in consultation with the appropriate Appointments sub-Committee.
Holders of Provisional Appointments must not have unsupervised access to young people until a satisfactory final response from Headquarters to the Personal Enquiry has been received.
Ultimate responsibility for ensuring the processes in b) are completed, including ensuring that minimum safety standards are met, rests with the Group Scout Leader for Leaders in the Group and with the District Commissioner for Group Scout Leaders during the Provisional Appointment period.
