The Scout Association is governed by a Council of between 300 and 500 members as determined by the Royal Charter of 1912 and the Supplemental Royal Charters of 1949, 1959, 1967 and 1991.
The Council appoints the Chief Scout, who becomes the Chairman of the Council.
The Council elects twelve of its members and three of its Nominated Youth Representatives to serve on the Committee of the Council.
