Flying in a light aircraft is an entirely different experience from being an airline passenger. Many Scouts enjoy being in the centre of the action, often next to the pilot, during take off, flying at relatively low altitude over land and coastlines, and landing. Scouts are briefed before take off on what to expect, the sensations of flight and safety matters. Flying offers good opportunities for map reading and compass work from a different perspective.
