The basic equipment for Laser Games. Both target shooting games and Interactive games are available commercially. In laser target shooting games the participants fire laser guns at artificial targets, such as in Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting and in variants in which the targets may be other objects or images. This type of activity can be hired for use at your site, indoors or outdoors as appropriate.
Interactive games (known generically as laser tag) are also available in which participants fire laser guns at each other. This activity is available commercially, generally at the providers' own premises. These provide a playing arena which is generally a darkened indoor space with ramps and other obstacles to provide an exciting atmosphere. Safety rules generally applied are: ‘No Running, No Climbing, No Physical Contact’. Players must be mature enough to appreciate the need for these rules and be willing to obey them. These games are arguably the most realistic wide game available within Scouting. It is also possible to purchase the laser guns (also called laser shooters or phasors) and the corresponding detector vests from toy suppliers.
