Here are a few readings, stories and reflections that you may wish to use for your Service. Some of them have themes, but you may also like to have a go and writing your own!
Stories, Reflections and Readings
From the Founder...
Here are some thoughts from our Founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell:
" My life has been an intensely happy one, not only in my family circle, but also in the world outside it......
Looking back on life of over eighty years, I realise how short life is and how little worthwhile are anger and political warfare.
The most worthwhile thing is to try and put a bit of happiness in to the lives of others"
(Excerpts from Baden-Powell's farewell message "To the general public")
Journey
A graceful bird that soars and glides
Giving peace of mind to all inside
A floating vessel covering sea so vast,
Using rudder, paddle, engine or mast.
Wheels, rudders and jets crush barriers great and small
For future travels - God's speed to us all.

Play
Football, swimming, golf, squash, cricket,
Rugby, aerobics, anything that makes us fit.
Cross-stitch, knitting, drawing, painting, cooking,
Acting, dancing, music, reading, writing.
Hobbies to enjoy when our work is hard to bear
God given talents for us to use and share.

Home Planet
On a dark, clear night, the sky is a dot to dot of stars
We revel at the awesome sight, but what of Planet Mars?
The Earth we know to circulate around the Moon and Sun.
Planets, though found and studied, aren't managed by anyone.
There are far reaching places that we may never find,
For our brains cannot fathom our great Creator's mind.

Rest
Walking down a country lane, filled with natures song
Sitting on a cliff top, watching waves just roll along.
Candles softly flickering with a single, simple glow
Natural scented oils for when we're feeling low.
Admist the bustle of our race are places touched by peace
With God we find the inward calm, which storms of life can't cease.

Body & Mind
Children and young people, filled with energies galore,
Enjoy games and sport and still cry out for more.
Adults gain experience, as year moves into year,
Then give advice to others and lend a listening ear.
All of us are different and we fill a big age span,
Let's share the wisdom given us in whatever way we can.
