The highest youth award in Scouting was created at the invitation of King Edward the VII in 1909. The Scout Associations link to Windsor started in 1934 when King George V invited that years Kings Scouts to attend a parade in the Castle and service in St Georges Chapel. Since then King and Queens Scouts have been going to Windsor castle and St Georges Chapel in celebration of gaining this award. The service in St Georges Chapel is written and delivered by Queens Scouts and always includes the renewal the Promise, lead by the Chief Scout.
In recent years Gallantry Award and Service Award holders have joined Queens Scouts in the castle and chapel.
