Global issues

Trade

Trade between various nations is seen by many as a major cause of Global Inequality.

Links
Oxfam's Make Trade Fair Campaign website at http://www.maketradefair.com contains information and downloadable resources.

Spread the word about Fair Trade by visiting the Dubble website at http://www.dubble.co.uk and become a 'Dubble Agent'.

The "It's not Fair" module in "Bridging the GAPP" is available from the GAPP website at http://www.gapp.me.uk This module contains information about inequality and division of wealth. The "Spending your Money" module also contains information on fair trade. GAPP is the Scout Association's Global Awareness Partnership Project.

Health

The GAPP 'Healthy Living' Module (available at http://www.gapp.me.uk) contains background information and activities on a number of health related topics including immunisation and AIDS.

The UNITE series of books produced in the late 90's (now available online at http://www.ugandanetwork.org.uk) included major sections on health topics.

The Christian Aid website at http://www.christian-aid.org contains a wealth of resources covering a variety of subjects including AIDS
Christian Aid have also created a website especially for young people called Global Gang (http://www.globalgang.org.uk) containing information, resources and online games relating to a number of topics.

Action Aid is a charity that works to raise awareness of a number of topics including HIV/AIDS. They recently teamed up with the Guides to produce a resource for Senior Section members (Explorers/Scout Network) full of activities on HIV/AIDS Awareness. These resources and others aimed at the Cub and Scout age ranges can be downloaded from their website at http://www.actionaid.org.

Human Rights

The Directorate of Youth and Sport of the Council of Europe has produced a manual on human rights education with young people called COMPASS. The aim of COMPASS is to provide youth leaders, teachers, trainers etc with "hands-on" and ready to use interactive methods and background information in human rights and human rights education.

COMPASS is now available on-line at http://www.coe.int/compass and includes full interactivity between different sections of the manual as well as interactivity with the users.
