EUR Hopping

Making contact with other European Scouts...

As a Patrol, make contact with another Patrol from somewhere else in Europe. Jointly agree on a project with them and carry it out and report your findings to the European Scout Office.

Project Guidelines

EUR hopping is a partnership between two or more Scout Patrols/Groups from two or more European countries which involves:

  • The Scouts establishing contact
  • regular communication between the Patrols (this does not have to be physical contact although at least one "face to face" meeting would be nice
  • a common project planned and implemented in co-operation by the Patrols
  • and a common evaluation and follow-up

Should UK Scouts decide to form a partnership with another country, it is STRONGLY advised that Leaders look at the Marrakech Charter as this forms the bedrock of any joint work. Information on the Marrakech Charter can be found in the "Going Abroad" Section of the International Pages.

Routemap

  1. Discuss the idea with your Patrol and your Leaders and decide on a project
  2. Register your Patrol with the UK LoA Ambassador.
  3. Once your application has been received, you will be sent "Lands of Adventure" badges for all your Patrol members
  4. The European Scout Office will try to find you a partner patrol based on the preferences you have given on your form. If you want to find a partner-patrol on your own, without the help of the European Scout Office, this is acceptable.
  5. You make contact with the partner-patrol, plan and carry out a project with them. You do not have to actually meet with your partner-patrol, but would be nice if you could.
  6. When you finished your project, send a report about it to the European Scout Office.
  7. Sew on your EUR hopping badge whilst you wait for your project report to appear on the Lands of Adventure website (http://www.scout.org/europe/LoA/LoAe.html)
