Nights Away Permit Scheme

The Adventurous Activity Permit Scheme is an internal assessment scheme designed to ensure that all those leading nights away events for young people within Scouting have the skills, experience and personal suitability to do so. Full details of the scheme can be found here.

Updates 2007

In September 2007 updates to the Nights Away Permit Scheme were announced following a review of how successfully the scheme had been implemented. You can find a summary of those updates here.

The Permit Scheme

Full details of the Adventurous Activity Permit Scheme can be found in the factsheets below. This includes factsheets for specific roles such as Commissioner and Applicant.

There is also an Assessment Checklist that the Nights Away Adviser using to assess any applicants for nights away permits.

Forms and Resources

To apply for a Nights Away Permit you will need to contact your Nights Away Adviser. If required here is an application form that can be filled in online for attaching to emails, or printed out and filled in by hand.

The Nights Away Notification Form (Form NAN) can also be filled in online for attaching to emails, or printed out and filled in by hand.

As well as being available from the Scout Information Centre, nights away permit holders can download a nights away passport to use for young people led nights away events.
