New Scout Fellowship Website

The new Fellowship website is up and running at www.scouts.org.uk/fellowship!

From the site you can find out about Fellowship, read stories from local and National Fellowships, download resources, read the latest news stories and articles, and find out about the Scout Fellowship Support Team.

Please let us know what you think of the new site, and if you have any suggestions for improvements, by emailing fellowship@scout.org.uk

For the next couple of months both the new site and the Scoutbase pages will continue to be updated. However, please be aware that in the not too distant future the Fellowship pages on Scoutbase will be redirected and you will only be able to access information through the new site.

Read on for past news items, and the National Commissioners News Archive.

News (November 2007) - Scout Fellowship Review

I would like to extend a thankyou to everyone who has submitted a questionnaire on the proposed model for Fellowship. A wide range of opinions and comments, both positive and constructive, have been received, and the team is now in the process of analysing the responses received in order to determine how best to move forwards with the review.

One of the most prominent things which came out of the responses was how strongly you all feel on the question of Fellowship. We received many stories and examples of your own experiences of Fellowship, and it was refreshing to see so many people thinking about what they do, and how they would slot into this new model. The pride in your Fellowship that many of you showed is great to see, and I hope that you continue to enjoy and improve the service that you are providing to the young people in Scouting.

Please see the Fellowship review page for more information on the current review.

News (November 2007) - Scout Fellowship Review

Thankyou to all who have responded to the Fellowship Review questionnaire. The deadline for returns has now passed. Please see the review page for information.

News (October 2007) - Join the Adventure

Have you seen the new Join the Adventure pages at www.scouts.org.uk/join? This year 168 people have expressed an interest in Fellowship through these pages, with an average age of 36 (the youngest being 18, the oldest 96!).

News (September 2007) - Scout Fellowship Review

The Scout Fellowship Support Team are currently consulting on the nature of the Scout Fellowship, and proposals for the future. See the Fellowship Review page for more details, and the chance to have your say.

National Fellowship Survey

One of the first tasks of the new National Fellowship Support Team is to embark on a project to build a contact database of Fellowships within the Country. The Project is being managed by Ken Ridgway a member of the National Fellowship Support Team based in Kent with help from Margaret Ellison who is Secretary of the Deep Sea Scout Fellowship. The project falls into two parts.

Part 1 is to establish a contact list of ALL Fellowships whether based at a Group, District, County/Area or National level, noting especially any special Interest Fellowships. Please also note if no Fellowship exists in a particular District. The link immdediately below is a template of the information required. If you are able to respond by email then please request a copy of the template from Ken Ridgway, or download it here, which can then be completed in Excel format and returned direct to:

Margaret Ellison:

ellisonm@waitrose.com.

Postal responses should be sent to: Mrs Margaret Ellison 12 Elstow Avenue Caversham, READING Berkshire RG4 6RX

The Team hope that this part of the project should be relatively straightforward given that you will all no doubt have a contact list for your own purposes.

Part 2 of the Project aims to establish the extent of Fellowship membership within the Country focusing on those Fellowship members that do not appear on the Census as they are covered elsewhere i.e. Leaders, Administrators, Commissioners etc. We are also keen to establish the current age ranges, and what Active Support has been provided to the Movement and to what extent Remits are being used and reviewed within the Country. This part of the project may take a little longer as you will have to obtain this on a Fellowship-by-Fellowship basis. Again a copy of the template is available to download here or by contacting Ken Ridgway. Should you need to contact Ken his details are: ken@ridgway48.freeserve.co.uk or tel 01634 826759.

ANNOUNCEMENT

NEW SCOUT FELLOWSHIP NATIONAL SUPPORT TEAM

On 3rd Dec 2005 Glenn Walker hosted a Consultation Day at Gilwell Park. Seven Fellowship people joined Glenn to discuss the future role of Fellowship, and to consider what direction Glenn's Team should endeavour to proceed. After an exhaustive day of brainstorming and thought provoking discussions there were clear needs defined. Glenn would like to extend his thanks and appreciation to those that took part in the day.

As a result of this Consultation day, Glenn is pleased to welcome Ken Ridgway, Steve Brownless, and Marc Hall to his National Support Team. Over the coming months details of the projects and strategy of the Team will be available. Remember that although you may not be apart of the National Team, the team will require your continuous support and may call on you for specific assistance for future endeavours.
