For any role in Scouting an appropriate role description needs to be agreed between the manager and the adult taking on the role. This is no different for Members of the Appointments sub-Commitee at either District or County level.
They are designed to be simple to use, with space available to write in "specific" or local responsibilities, helping you and the individual to "know or understand their role" before they agreeing to take the role on.
Each role description is not a prescriptive list but an outline of the key parts of what different Members of the Appointment sub-Committee could do. You can add or remove tasks, depending on what you agree with the individual concerned, and local structures that are in place.

Rule changes in August 2004 have the strengthened the role played by the Appointments sub-Committee in the appointment review process.
About three months before a review is due, the Appointments Secretary has the responsibility to send Form AR to the GSL / Commissioner / Manager, and inform the individual that an appointment review is due.
A sample letter to be sent to individuals has been drafted, and can be downloaded as a word document for use by Appointments Secretaries.
