I just wanted to say thank you as my old Training Manager, Gordon Titherly, for the all the Scout training I have done. My experience and training in the Scout Movement played a major part in me being able to follow my dream, change careers and work full time helping kids.
I now work as a Residential Social Worker at Bowden House in Seaford with boys. They have got major social problems and as their house parent, I spend a lot of my time doing typical Scout things and being paid for it too!! I am having a fantastic time and feel that am doing something very important and worthwhile.
I have just started an NVQ3, some of the module courses that I attended are being used as a part of it. The woman who came to see me about getting started on the NVQ was very impressed with the Training used by the Scouts and has borrowed my book detailing all the Modules.
Thanks once again, this is one extra reason why people should take up the training scheme as it may help them as it did me to take a big jump, change careers and start again in what is their dream Job!

At the grand old age of 37 I have trained to become a Cub Scout Leader. I and 3 other adults all have children in our local Group. We are a group that meets at a military base in the Falkland Islands.
We now have 6 leaders in the group covering an age range from 5 3/4 to 11 years of age. 8000 miles away from home, on two year tours we had little clue on how to save a group that our children obviously enjoy.
Then along came Corporal Peter Goodwin from Vale of Aylesbury . As is usual for the non-continuity posts he was on a 4 month detachment to our base. Incredibly, Peter has inspired so many people, both adults and children, to build a strong group. During his visit, with so many hours devoted to training and re-building our group, Peter has encouraged us all and inspired us to take up Scouting; he has even found the time and inclination to guide 5 children through to complete their Chief Scout's Award (two bronze and three silver).
His legacy will be setting up our first Scout troop and also having EVERY schoolchild who is old enough to be in scouting in our group..
Peter has given up hours and hours of his own time in order to provide teaching and training to allow us, with our busy schedules, to gain the maximum benefit from the module matrix. His method of teaching is excellent and shows that he not only has a profound understanding of the subject matter but also he conveys his enthusiasm for the scouting movement.
Our Scouting Group has changed for the better with his guidance. He has lead us to a better understanding of Scouting and helped us put the important people back at the forefront of our group - the children. We would very much like to thank a man who joined his father's cub group and has stayed with scouting ever since, bringing his 4 children into the scouting family.
Peter Goodwin is superb ambassador for Scouting he has been, we could think of no better way to thank him. You should know what a great team you have and should be so proud of what these unsung heroes like Pete Goodwin do in the name of scouting and the good they spread through our communities.

In the comments from the Learners Questionnaire, there were some personal thanks included. They are below, and if you know those people, thank them for what they do.
My Training Advisor was and still is a great source of information and encouragement.
with John Bruce as the Training Adviser I sailed through with his help
Diane has been an asset to the District Team and her time and effort has been greatly appreciated. She was friendly, approachable and supportive.
I've had two trainers during this time and both I commend as being very helpful and supportive and making the task of training so enjoyable. Well done Pam Dc and Linda ADC.
My trainer , Roger Lisco was always happy to help even if the question was one I thought silly, he never let me think it was , a good trainer
Kath Bridger was my adviser and she was fantastic, supportive and fantastic.
In an ideal world all Training Advisors would be called Andy Ellis.
I was fortunate enough to get Nan Brodie, she was excellent in all areas. She was always professional, but would have a good old laugh at the same time. Thank you Nan
I gained my camp permit through Helen Nicholl , the camp Warden at Squirrel Wood, Doncaster. She then helped me and encouraged me to finish the training
Claire was brilliant, she guided me through the process so that I made best use of my existing skills and was always there to advise, and still is.
I think Sue Sheldon was excellent all though and keep me focused as I did feel I had lost my way after previous treatment.
M Jackson very supportive worked with me and around work family commitments
In fact it may still not be completed but for Peter. Well Done, and Thank You Peter Greenhough
I would like to pass on my gratitude for the excellent training members I have had privilege to work alongside. There are two people I would like to bring to your attention within the training team.
They are from Greenford District. Their names are Mrs Josie Cole and Mrs Louise O Leary. These two ladies helped me all through my training. They were always willing to listen, explain to me any probs I had, and Josie always came to see me at courses I attended to see if I was ok settling in etc. They made me feel part of the scouting family from the start and still do. Even though I have my wood badge they are still there if I need them. I consider myself very lucky to have had Josie and Louise overseeing my training with training managers like these scouting should grow and grow.I do believe these ladies should be rewarded for their hard work they put into scouting. Recently three Awards for Merit have been awarded to 3 of my TA's who hold other roles as well. Being involved with training as a TA has helped get these awards. Gordon Titherly, CTM East Sussex
I have been in scouting in Eastbourne since about 1980 mainly as a Scout Leader. As a TA I started at the beginning of the new training scheme, when the training manager asked me if I would like to take on the role. At the moment I am looking after 4 leaders and have had a few get their wood badge. I have also helped on some training courses. I certainly didnÂt expect to get an award for my scouting, but it was a nice surprise. My award of the medal of merit was for services to scouting over many years. It is quite pleasing to know that you have helped new leaders to settle in and get their training done. What I like to see the most is the satisfaction that the children get through scouting knowing that the leaders are doing a good job. If you have the time and commitment and can use your years of experience, why not go ahead and train others as we all want to keep the spirit of scouting alive in years to come.
